AWWSB Wins Alabama's 2025 Great American Water Taste Test

Anniston, AL – March 18, 2025 – The Water Works and Sewer Board of the City of Anniston (AWWSB) is proud to announce that it has won Alabama’s 2025 Annual Great American Water Taste Test Competition, held during the 47thAnnual Alabama Rural Water Association (ARWA) Conference in Montgomery, Alabama.

Competing against water systems from across the state, AWWSB’s water sample was judged as the best in Alabama, earning the organization the honor of representing the state at the Great American Water Taste Test in Washington, D.C., in February 2026.

Alabama’s Annual Great American Water Taste Test Competition is a highly anticipated event at the annual technical training conference, bringing together water professionals from across Alabama to showcase the quality of their drinking water. Participating utilities submit water samples, which are judged based on taste, clarity, and overall quality.

“This recognition is a testament to our team’s dedication to ensuring the highest water quality for our community,” said Ed Turner, AWWSB General Manager. “We take great pride in delivering safe and great-tasting water and will continue to uphold the highest standards.”

The ARWA Conference, held from March 16-19, 2025, provides essential training and networking opportunities for water and wastewater professionals, reinforcing the importance of maintaining and improving water infrastructure across Alabama.

With this victory, AWWSB looks forward to competing on the national stage at the Great American Water Taste Test in Washington, D.C., where they will represent Alabama and showcase the exceptional quality of Anniston’s drinking water.
