The Anniston Water Works and Sewer Board received three plant awards at the 2009 annual Alabama Water and Pollution Control Association (AWPCA) Short Course and Conference. The annual meeting was held July 26 to 28 in Dothan, Alabama.
The Paul B. Krebs Plant received the Best Operated Plant Award for the second time in as many years in the category of Ground Water Treatment Plants serving 50,001 to 100,000 population.
The Earl C. Knowlton Water Treatment Plant received the Award of Excellence in the category of Surface Water Treatment Plants with capacities between 5.1 million to 10 million gallons per day.
The McClellan Wastewater Treatment Plant won the Best Operated Plant Award in the category for Wastewater Treatment Plants with a treatment capacity of 1 million to 2.5 million gallons per day.
Barry J. Junior, Plant Operations Supervisor at the Paul B. Krebs Water Treatment Plant, and Kenneth Phillips, Engineering Services Supervisor, were present to accept the awards on behalf of Anniston Water Works.
